I still ache!

Having never done an event as long as the Vitruvian I'm finding the recovery process rather annoying. After a 10k hard race i would ache a little the next day and then be fine to pick up the training where i left off, this half iron distance malarkey is another matter. I still ache like anything, After getting up from being seated for a while my legs always seem to remind me what I did to them in the previous few days. Maybe I'm expecting too much from my recovery strategy, but i really do want to get back into training for my next little goal - the Rutland Marathon on the 6th Nov - just after my fortieth bday.

In my head all the training on I did for the Vit should serve as a base for the mara so I'm rejoining a 16 week plan i started before i got a place in the vit. the plan is now 8 weeks through and as luck would have it this week is a recovery block. I should be able to fit in the 3 lots of 8 mile runs this week and continue with the program that has me running a 16 miler next week and the 20 the week after that, i suppose we'll see :)

Today saw a very sedate swim of mixed drills and 4 x 200m and tomorrow an open water session at the lakes should revitalize the legs a little more. I don't know if its the cold water or the compression of the wetsuit that helps but any comfort will be gladly received.
